The Department of Stomatology and Oral Science is located in the New Didactic Pole of the University Campus of Chieti.

The structure is situated in the Citadel of Science on an area of more than 107.639,10 ft² in a multi-storey building. Clinical activities take place on the lower floors, whereas administrative offices, research laboratories and multimedia lecture rooms are on the upper floors.

Three types of scientific activities take place in the building, these activities can be summarized in RESEARCH, TEACHING and CLINIC.

The Department is organized to develop basic research on animals or human beings through several advanced research laboratories, according to the normative in force. There are several laboratories (Histology, Pathology, etc.) and a research room provided with a universal test machine and the most advanced equipment for scanned and transmission electronic microscopy.
Moreover, part of the research takes place in a separate section of the Department located in the CESI, an advanced structure in his kind. The CESI is also placed in the University Campus.

TEACHING is addressed both to undergraduate students of the Degree in Dentistry and Prosthetics (about 300 enrolled students in course and out of course) and post-graduate students in Dentistry Medicine and Oral Surgery with a qualification for Dentistry or through Postgraduate Schools, Masters, Continuing Education Courses and Refresher Courses (about 250 professional attending theoretical and practical courses). In addition, there are professional training Courses for dental nurses, dental technicians and other professionals in the field (more than 100 enrolled per year).
Besides, several multimedia rooms, two simulation laboratories equipped with work-stations and simulators for didactic practice are available.

The CLINIC consists of several Departments (Conservative Dentistry, Pediodontia, Periodontology, Dental Care, Orthodontics and TMJ, Dental Surgery, Stomatology, Implantology, Dental Prosthesis) provided with several working units that are in independent boxes, strictly connected with the computerized x-ray room and with a well-equipped prosthetic laboratory supplied with 15 work stations (to cope with external and internal needs) and a central sterilization room.
The Prosthetics Laboratory and all the Clinic Departments are linked to the didactic rooms through a multimedia audio-video connection.
